like a rolling stone, duh.
except nevermind because that's part of the question.
so bob dylan live, some arena in new jersey: not even squinting could i see mr. bob fucking dylan, THE man, because he was wearing black and i lost my glasses weeks ago but i could hear and feel his harmonica and could pick him out because his hat would move whenever he approached the microphone. most unhip concert of my life, ironically made even more unhip by the fact that i'm not hip enough to know bob dylan's extensive catalog, but it still made it monumental that i got to sit down and have him, THE man, rock me into a meditative sleep that would be interrupted every time a song ended and the audience clapped because i was with them and with him all along, except my eyes were closed and my mind was rocking out without knowing it.

Three things.
1) I'm really glad you're posting in here again.
2) It was fun running into you last night.
3) I don't think you should consider yourself unhip for not knowing Bob Dylan songs. Dylan is as classic as classic rock gets (ignoring for the moment the question of whether he's actually classic rock or folk rock or just folk or whatever) and music like that doesn't count as hip. Now if you can't name all the songs off of the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album, that's a different story. :-P
I'll throw in a bonus point:
3.5) I don't actually know much Bob Dylan either, and it's never prevented me from being totally awesome. (Same with not knowing the latest Clap Your Hands album... although simply knowing who Clap Your Hands are was apparently enough to get some girls at the shake shack to give me their numbers. YOWZA)
