Freshman year is over and I didn't even notice.Somewhere in between writing about the end of freshman year, reading about the Era of Anti-Intellectualism in Nigeria, taking pictures on my roof while I was supposed to be studying, and hugging my Lit Hum teacher goodbye, freshman year disappeared.
Somewhere in between cupcakes and biography bookstores and amazing $250 dinners and going days at a time without talking to him and staying up all night in my empty apartment watching Sleepover on movies-on-demand, we stopped being freshmen.
One moment I was replying to facebook messages about having to see people before the school year ended, and the next I was drinking cranberry drinks in the basement of some bar with my favorite journalists and then screaming "have a good summer" to the deputy opinion editor as he took the other exit out of the 116th street stop.
A week ago I went into the library to write 543290 papers and left behind the soft pink flowers on college walk, and when I came out, the trees had no flowers and no longer looked like spring, but summer.
Now I'm trying to remember all these events and moments that made the end of this year arrive unnoticedly. Wyatt's asleep on his top bunk and I'm using Naim's internet cable, sitting amidst his "college boxes" (your ultimate student solution!) and Wyatt's foot is dangling off his bed and I'm thirsty and gmail is blinking orange, so that means he's back from recording a Zatoichi movie downstairs.
OH and then somewhere, somehow, Mexico decided to maybe legalize drugs and the artists of the 16 Crosby Street CO-OP decided to not let us live there.
